After a long day traveling, we finally landed in Honolulu!
We boarded the plane around 1:00pm on Friday in Newark, NJ and took off shortly after 1:30pm. The plane had the TVs on a continuous loop with the updated stats on our progression to Hawaii: how fast we were going, altitude, outside temp, local departure time, estimated arrival time, and hours to landing. At 30,000 feet upin the air, what do you think the outside temperature is? I guess I knew the air up in space was cold, but maybe not -50 to -60 degrees Fahrenheit for the planes.
The first 2-3 hours of the trip seemed to go on and on until we hit
Chicago. Then it seemed like in no time we were off the
coast of California. Then time seemed to go very slow again. Damon made the most of his time in the plane. He did a few more long division worksheets and almost all his guided reading. He probably has about 85% of his homework done!
We landed about 5:30pm Hawaii time, 10:30pm our time. We had to stay on the plane for about 15 minutes until they got the walkway fixed. "For our Safety" you know! After we found the bus to take us to the rental car, our resort was a good 1/2 hour west of the airport, and it was pretty busy on the highways.
We checked in, then we decided to get something quick to eat, since we hadn't had any "real" food in about 10 hours! By time we got all our stuff up the room and unpacked a little bit, it was about 10:30pm, or 3:30am our time! Needless to say we were tired and went to bed!
